Callystar’s first snack tomatoes from Morocco have arrived at Growers United

13-08-2024

Callystar is celebrating a milestone: the first snack tomatoes from Morocco have arrived at Growers United in Maasdijk. This harvest marks the beginning of a promising collaboration between Dutch producers Schenkeveld and The Valley Growers in partnership with the Moroccan entrepreneur, CERES SRL.

Founded in 2024 as a joint venture, Callystar is developing an innovative horticultural business in Agadir. By combining Dutch cultivation know-how with local expertise, the company aims for sustainable and efficient tomato production in North Africa.

The Callystar team is working on a smart and forward-looking approach. Cherry tomatoes are grown on a coco substrate, with sensors to precisely adapt irrigation to the needs of the plants. Water recirculation trials and the use of solar energy reinforce the project’s sustainable ambitions.

After an intense preparation phase including the search for the right location, large investments and the construction of modern greenhouses, the first harvest is now a reality. The freshly harvested snack tomatoes have arrived at Growers United and are ready for delivery to retailers across Europe.

“This is a beautiful result of teamwork, dedication, and a shared vision for the future of sustainable food production,” says the Callystar team. “And this is just the beginning” https://callystar.ma/
